FAQ

What is the format of the course?

The course is video-based, and can be accessed via the ICMIF Learning Platform. The course consists of 20 videos split across 6 modules. There are quiz questions at the end of each module to reinforce the learning.

Who is this course designed for?

This course is for employees of cooperative and mutual insurers who are increasingly leading others (formally and informally), tackling complex situations or simply want to improve their decision-making and collaboration skills. The course is suitable for technical insurance and non-technical people, reflecting the typical make-up of a mutual/cooperative insurer. Currently this course is available in English only

What topics are covered in the course?

The course modules are embracing complexity, judging and deciding, effective collaboration, healthy challenge, working across cultures and preparing for action. The course translates insights from behavioural economics into easy to apply approaches for people, with tools that transform the ways in which individuals and teams make sense of complex situations.

How long does it take to complete the course?

The course takes about 6 hours to complete. There is approximately 4.5 hours of video content and a recommended 1.5 hours of self-reflection.

Am I eligible to take the course?

The Mutual Leadership: Adapting to a Complex World on-demand course is available to all ICMIF members. If you are unsure about eligibility, contact Mike Ashurst.

Is there any interaction with instructors or other participants?

The course is primarily video-based self-learning, but an ICMIF instructor will be available to answer any questions about the content. Check-in sessions with other learners may be arranged on an ad-hoc basis, depending on demand. ICMIF will contact you about this once you’ve registered.

Can I access the course content at any time?

The content is available on-demand, so learners can access it at their convenience. Learners have 12 months to complete the course after registration.

Are there assessments or assignments?

Short quizzes need to be completed before learners can move to the next module. There are 14 self-reflection questions that are for private reflection and do not need to be submitted. However, we strongly recommend that learners spend 5-10 minutes on each question as these are designed to reinforce the learning and get people to think about how they can apply the tools and insights in their work.

Is there a certificate upon completion?

Certificates are available upon completion of the course.

What is the refund policy?

There is a full refund if you cancel your registration within 14 days of the date of registration for the course. There is no refund if you cancel your registration after the initial 14-day period. However, in exceptional circumstances, such as technical issues preventing access to the course content, or if the course is cancelled by ICMIF, you will be entitled to a full refund regardless of the cancellation period.
